Parents in Rockville, Maryland are wondering what went wrong after their 2-year-old refused to wave goodbye to a grocery store employee yesterday.

“He’d just finished bagging our groceries,” said the child’s mother who wishes to remain anonymous. “I told her, ‘WAVE BYE BYE! WAVE BYE BYE!’ But she just stared at me. I wanted to melt into the floor and disappear.”

The child’s father was also on the scene, “She knows how to wave bye bye. Her vocabulary consists of over 75 words which is much higher than average. This is a huge setback for our entire family.”

The grocery store employee was on his break and unavailable for comment.

The toddler’s parents have already placed the child in intensive therapy three times a week to find the source of her acting out.

“I’m just praying that we can help her before it’s too late,” said her father, his voice breaking.
