Psychology

Psychology is a science that deals with the behavior of individuals and groups. It encompasses a study of mental processes including emotions, memories, perceptions, language, thought, attention and motor skills. Psychology includes the study of both conscious and unconscious phenomena, as well as a person feeling and thought. As a social science, psychologists aim to understand the behavior of people. The study of psychology has many applications including improving the public’s health, increasing human efficiency, and helping both children and adults deal with different problems.

Psychological theories are explanations of observed within or across some specified domain of knowledge. A psychological theory consists of statements about that phenomenon in the form of empirical claims that can be tested by observation or experiment. Psychological theories can take many forms, including performance models, cognitive task analyses, neural network models, statistical data models, and developmental theories of human differences. The overarching goal of psychological theory is to generate testable ideas that organize research findings into a coherent framework.

Psychological health is an emotional, social, spiritual, and physical state of well-being. It means that one becomes able to adapt to the environment by creating positive life experiences. It also means that a person can deal with the everyday demands of life and one’s environment without feeling overwhelmed. Psychological health is an ongoing process that to a great extent, involves self-attitude, self-confidence, social interaction, personal motivation, goal-setting skills, and problem-solving skills.
