Find a general physician in Delhi for your health concern
Finding a doctor is easier when the important details are available in a single place. This directory brings together 15 general physicians in Delhi, including doctors working in general medicine, adult medicine and internal medicine.
The profiles cover physicians across South Delhi, East Delhi, West Delhi, North Delhi, Central Delhi and South-West Delhi. You can review each doctor’s qualifications, experience, areas of practice, clinic or hospital location, Google rating, patient reviews, phone number, address, opening hours and directions.
Which type of doctor are you looking for?
A general physician is often the first doctor an adult consults for a new health concern. People may seek an appointment for fever, cough, digestive problems, fatigue, headaches, infections or a general medical assessment. General physicians and internal medicine doctors may also provide continuing care for diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid disorders and respiratory illness.
Not every physician provides the same type of care. Some doctors on this page offer broad general medicine consultations. Others have additional experience in geriatric medicine, infectious diseases, diabetes care, preventive medicine or follow-up after hospital treatment.
You do not need to know the exact cause of your symptoms before making an appointment. If you are unsure whether a doctor is suitable, call the clinic, briefly explain why you want to visit and ask whether the physician regularly sees patients with that concern.
How to use this list
- Start with the reason you need medical care.
- Shortlist doctors whose experience and areas of practice appear relevant.
- Confirm the location, consultation fee, appointment availability and current OPD timings before travelling.
If you may need regular follow-up, a nearby clinic can be more practical than travelling across Delhi for each appointment. If tests, imaging or another specialist may be needed, a hospital-based physician may be more convenient.

How to choose a general physician in Delhi
There is no single physician who will suit every patient. A useful choice is a doctor whose current practice relates to your concern and whose clinic is practical for you to visit.
Begin with the reason for your appointment
For a new illness or unexplained symptom, look for broad general medicine or internal medicine experience. For diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid disease or another continuing condition, look for relevant experience and a location you can manage for follow-up. An older adult with several conditions may benefit from a physician experienced in geriatric or complex adult medicine.
If you still cannot decide, call the clinic and describe the reason for the appointment. The clinic can tell you whether the doctor usually sees patients with that concern.
Clinic or hospital: which is more suitable?
A neighbourhood clinic may be convenient for routine consultations and regular follow-up. A hospital-based physician may be more practical when laboratory tests, imaging, hospital care or another department could be needed. Neither setting is automatically better; the right choice depends on your needs and how easily you can return.
Do not choose from ratings alone
Online reviews may describe communication, waiting time, appointment handling or clinic service. They cannot confirm that a diagnosis was correct or predict another patient’s result. Use ratings together with qualifications, relevant experience, medical registration, location and availability.
How to verify a doctor’s registration
The National Medical Commission’s National Medical Register lets you search by a doctor’s name, registration number, registration year, NMR ID, State Medical Council and licence status. Because doctors can share similar names, use a registration number when it is available.
How much does a general physician charge in Delhi?
Consultation fees vary by doctor, clinic, hospital and appointment type. Fees can also change. Ask the clinic for the current charge and whether follow-up visits, report reviews or tests are billed separately.
What can a general physician help with?
General physicians assess a broad range of adult health concerns. An appointment may begin with a known condition or with symptoms that have not yet been diagnosed.
- Fever or a suspected infection
- Cough or breathing symptoms
- Fatigue, weakness, headaches or dizziness
- Digestive problems
- Blood-pressure or blood-glucose concerns
- Thyroid-related symptoms
- General health assessment
- Follow-up after an illness or hospital stay
A physician may review your history and symptoms, perform a clinical examination, recommend appropriate investigations and decide whether another specialist’s opinion is needed. This does not mean that every doctor on the page treats every condition listed above. Read the individual profile and confirm the doctor’s current practice with the clinic.
General physician and internal medicine doctor: what is the difference?
The terms are sometimes used together, but they do not always mean exactly the same thing. “General physician” is a broad title used for doctors who provide general medical consultations. Internal medicine is a specialty focused on adult healthcare, including the diagnosis and continuing care of adults with complex or long-term illness.
The American College of Physicians describes internal medicine physicians as doctors who provide diagnosis, treatment and compassionate care for adults across the spectrum from health to complex illness.
The title alone should not decide your choice. Look at the doctor’s qualifications, current role, clinical interests and place of practice.
What to confirm and what to take with you
Doctor schedules and clinic information can change. A short phone call before travelling can prevent a wasted journey.
Confirm these details before booking
- Is the doctor consulting at this location today?
- Is an appointment required?
- What is the current consultation fee?
- What are the current OPD timings?
- Does the doctor see patients with your concern?
- Should you bring previous reports or prescriptions?
- Are tests or fasting instructions required before the visit?
- Is a follow-up fee charged separately?
- Is an online consultation available?
- Is the clinic open on Saturday or Sunday?
What to take to the appointment
You do not need to create a complicated medical file. Bring the information that will help the doctor understand your health history.
- A list of current medicines and doses
- Previous prescriptions
- Recent blood-test or imaging reports
- Hospital discharge papers, when relevant
- Details of medicine allergies
- A brief timeline of your symptoms
- Blood-pressure or blood-glucose readings, when relevant
- Questions you want to ask
When describing a symptom, explain when it started, whether it is getting better or worse and what seems to affect it. Do not stop or change a prescribed medicine before the visit unless a qualified healthcare professional has advised you to do so.
Do not wait for a routine appointment in an emergency
This directory is intended for planned doctor appointments. If someone has a sudden, severe or potentially life-threatening medical problem, seek emergency assistance immediately.
India’s Emergency Response Support System uses the nationwide number 112.
Frequently asked questions about Delhi physicians
Can I visit a general physician if I do not know what is causing my symptoms?
Yes. Many appointments begin with symptoms rather than a confirmed diagnosis. A physician can review your history and symptoms, examine you and decide whether tests or specialist care may be needed.
Can a general physician manage more than 1 health problem?
Many physicians assess adults who have several connected or long-term health concerns. Bring a complete medicine list and relevant reports. Whether the same physician can manage every condition depends on the doctor’s training and the complexity of your health needs.
Can a general physician help with diabetes or high blood pressure?
Many general physicians and internal medicine specialists provide continuing care for diabetes and hypertension. Some patients may also need an endocrinologist, cardiologist, kidney specialist or another clinician, depending on their individual needs.
Can a general physician refer me to a specialist?
Yes. A physician may recommend another specialist when your symptoms, examination findings, medical history or test results require more specialised assessment.
Can children visit the physicians on this page?
This directory mainly covers doctors providing adult medical care. Age policies vary, so parents should ask the clinic whether the doctor sees children. A paediatrician may be more appropriate for infants, children and adolescents.
Can I find a female general physician in Delhi on this page?
The directory includes both male and female physicians. Review the profiles by name, location and area of practice, then confirm current availability with the clinic.
Are evening or weekend appointments available?
Some profiles show evening or weekend hours, but schedules can change. Contact the clinic before travelling if you need a Saturday, Sunday or late-evening appointment.
Are online consultations available?
Some doctors may offer video or telephone consultations. Availability, fees and the concerns accepted online differ by doctor, so ask the clinic before booking.
